Flap surgery, or periodontal flap surgery, is a minimally invasive procedure for advanced gum disease. A section of gum is lifted to clean tartar, plaque, and bacteria from roots and bone, repair any
damage, then repositioned and sutured. Performed under local anesthesia, it’s designed to be comfortable and effective.
Flap surgery is usually advised when:
• Non-surgical treatments like scaling and root planing haven’t worked
• You have persistent bleeding, swelling, or loose teeth
• Gum pockets are deeper than 5mm
• X-rays show bone loss
